I am always so excited when I spot Rico Designs jewels in her flat lays. This time it’s the 'white dust necklace' from the latest upcoming collection Winter Solace....

Winter Solace Collection 2013 Launch

It goes without saying that I am beyond excited about the Launch of the new winter 2013 collection Winter Solace. There is some sort of peace found in lazing around solo at home on a winter’s day with absolutely nothing to do but relax. Winter Solace collection consists of greens and white washed coral, shells, and bone pips bohemian spirited necklaces designed to wear with winter flowy dresses or baggy tees and fur as well as the delicate silver necklaces and wraps which we have come to love and expect from Rico designs. Hours of love and attention have gone into every element of this collection to bring to you cherish worthy treasures to hold close to your heart.

You may have come across her blog before...The beautiful Leana from blog Coconut Lemon and Lime. She is fast gaining a loyal following of carefree wild at heart bohemian bloggers with a passion for fashion. I was beyond flattered by her latest blog post launching the Rico designs winter collection. Her words are extremely flattering and too kind and I’m so glad Leana was just as excited as me to be on bored with the launch of the new collection.

I hope everyone had a great mother’s day yesterday. I was stuck at The Rocks Markets but lucky for me my awesome mummy came to me J

Why you should never leave home without a bikini

I just had the most beautiful morning I just had to share.  I was in manly (not too far from where I live in Narrabeen) to pick up my new spring wettie. I was then meeting a friend a little latter to show her some of my jewellery but I had a bit of time to kill so I decided to take a walk towards shelly beach.

The sun was shining and it was a glorious Sydney Autumn day the water was sparkling and calling my name. I couldn’t resist I jumped down off the path and skipped along the rocks towards the water. At first I was just planning to sit on the rock and gaze off into the deep blue....after all I didn’t have a towel with me. But as the sun warmed up and the morning moved on I couldn’t resist temptation any more. Thank god I had my bikini on....although I Probably would have been tempted to jump in my unidies. I dove off the rocks straight in the water and wow!!! It was amazing. The water has been a little brisk lately but seemed to have warmed up today I was in my element.

I then remembered that I had some of my jewellery on me which I had planned to show my friend...so out it came and my morning inspired a mini close up photo shoot of some of my jewels. Some of the bracelets are from my new upcoming collection so will be available online very shortly.

I really am lucky to live in such an amazing place and after my little moment this morning I will definitely be planning on getting out of my Narrabeen bubble and having some more midweek Manly visits J

The Rico Designs Story

In my previous blog I mentioned that there will be a lot of new and exciting things happening to Rico Designs this year. With that being said I am excited to announce that I will be launching the new winter collection very shortly...so stay tuned for that.

I have been thinking a lot lately about who exactly I am as a label, what I represent and what I aim to achieve through my jewellery. With all these thoughts flying around in my head I have began to take some action and its beginning with new and fresh Rico Designs branding. This I will be displaying through a new look logo design. Keep your eyes peeled for that one; I can’t wait to see the end result. I’m also extremely excited about where I am going as a label and portraying exactly who I am and what I am about.

We have developed a new Designer Bio for Rico Designs which is really trying to portray who I am...Hope you like J

The Rico Story

Living on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Rico Designs founder Richelle divides her time between her two passions - jewellery and surfing.

From as far back as she can remember she’s created her own unique style of adornments, delighting in the love people get from choosing and wearing her pieces. This, in turn, drives her creativity. Richelle founded Rico Designs in 2010 in response to countless requests from friends and strangers to share her talents.

Living just metres from the ocean, everything in the collection is shaped and influenced by her experiences on the beaches, in the waves and soaking up the sun. Much like the sea, her designs are always changing and evolving. Pieces are infused with memories of travels through Asia, Europe and South America. Looking back at 2013 so far...Bali

It’s been a long time between blog posts lately...well the last 4 months but that’s because there has been so much happening behind the scenes in the Rico Designs world. This year began with a month long trip to bali with my boyfriend to surf, of course shop and unwind (which I was in great need of after the intense market rush in the lead up to christmas ). It’s such a great thing to be able to travel overseas because it exposes you to endless inspiration...so of course thoughts of a new collection started coming into play...

My boyfriend and I moved around a little, one of the places we stayed was a beautiful place in Keramas named the Komune it hasn’t even been open for one year yet and already it’s building great hype with talk of the next pro surfing tour to be held there this July. Which may I add would be amazing. This place features a huge pool right on the sand in front of the peeling right hand reef break. I loved every minute of it...

We timed it perfectly with some huge swells, only thing is 7 foot + sets breaking on shallow reef are a little out of my league haha but was great to watch while lazing around the pool getting a tan... as soon as the surf dropped to about 3ish foot I was out there, and Loved it..Unless getting caught inside, dragged along the reef and getting sea urchins stuck in my body. (how does something so small hurt so much??....but that’s another story).

It goes without saying the next time you are in Bali its a no brainer stay at the Komune.

My boyfriend and I spent the last few days amongst the rice paddies of Canggu. I absolutely love it here and it’s great to get away from the hustle and bustle of Legian/Samyinyak area. If staying here I would def recommend hiring a bike...its great cruising around the back streets from villa to restaurant to surf. So many great places to eat which are easy to find just ride around and pull over once you see something you like. You can’t go past betelnut cafe which combines healthy food with traditional Balinese flavours check out there facebook page here

Ahhhhh!!! Writing this makes me want to go back to Bali now....better start saving J
